1-About Luchon

Published by Luchon Apartment

Located in the heart of the Pyrenees, at the foot of the highest summits of this spectacular range, LUCHON (630m) and SUPERBAGNERES (1860m) both benefit from a remarkable geographic location and an exceptional concentration of summits higher than 3000 metres.
Ever since the conquest of the Monts Maudits, all the great Pyrenean climbers have left their mark in the granite of the Luchon mountains.
High altitude enthusiasts will find the quality of rock they’re looking for, from the endless treks on the ridges above 3000 metres, to the excitement of mountain climbs on the majestic rock faces of Pic Quaïrat or Les Spijeoles.

Numerous high altitude lakes invite you to stroll or fish, unless you’d prefer a botanical walk in the Val d’Esquiery, accompanied by a local naturalist.
The exceptional environment is an ideal playground for all types of adventure and “glisse” sports that make up the Mountain Activities.

It should be recalled that the aerial tram from Superbagnères to Luchon has the largest vertical drop in the Pyrenees: 1200 metres. This can only encourage mountain bikers or paragliders, who can reach the site of Superbagnères via the aerial tram in less than 8 minutes.
After your long, sumptuous hikes in the mountains, take a rest by strolling through the town.
Young and old will find it difficult to choose from among the wide range of athletic, cultural or game activities, as Luchon harmoniously links its seasons with festive major events to please both culture and sports aficionados.

LUCHON, a town of gardens, reflects a splendid and generous history. Nature lovers will discover a never-ending series of unique landscapes on foot. Numerous activities are available. Sports, fitness programmes, touring historical sites, cultural entertainment and festivities, gastronomy:
that’s why the Luchon area is referred to as the active mountain
